Lyman takes second at state: Area rundown from Friday

LARAMIE – The Lyman High School swimming team earned a second-place finish at the Class 3A state championships in Friday in Laramie.

The Eagles finished with 197 points, while powerhouse Lander tallied 325 points to repeat for the 22nd time. Lander has won the state title in 25 of the last 27 years.

Powell (189), Kemmerer (125) and Rawlins (124) rounded out the top-five teams.

On Day 1 for Evanston, senior Dylan Phillips is the only swimmer to make it to the only individual qualifier to advance to Day 2. Phillips is seeded sixth in the finals of the 500 free and is in the consolation final of the 200 free.

GIRLS BASKETBAL FROM FRIDAY

Mountain View 60, Pinedale 37

Haily Stephens poured in a game-high 27 points and Baylee Tims added 18 as Mountain View claimed a 60-37 win against Pinedale on Friday in a 3A West-South matchup.

The No. 3-ranked Lady Buffalos have now won seven straight. They improve to 14-4 overall and 2-2 Conference.

Mountain View will host Buffalo today at 1 p.m.

Lyman 50, Star Valley 47

The No. 2-ranked Lady Eagles survived a 50-47 3A West-South Conference win on Saturday against Star Valley.

Scoring for this game is not available at this time.

Lyman (17-1) will host Pinedale today.

BOYS BASKETBALL FROM SATURDAY

Mountain View 59, Pinedale 33

The Buffalos overcame its first quarter woes by jumping out to a first-quarter lead en route to a 59-33 win in a 3A West-South Conference win against Pinedale on Saturday.

Mountain View is now 8-10 on the year and 3-1 in conference play.

Jason Stoddard scored 20 points for the Buffalos, while Briggen Bluemel added 13.

Mountain View will host Star Valley today at 3:30.

Star Valley 49, Lyman 35

The Lyman High School boys’ basketball team suffered a 49-35 loss to Star Valley on Friday in a Class 3A West-South matchup.

Scoring for this game has not yet been made available.

The Eagles are now 1-8 on the year and 0-4 in conference play.

Lyman will host Star Valley today.
