Lyman boy crushes competition in discus


The Lyman Eagles track and field team scored 19 points to place 13th in the Class 3A field of 16 teams.

Senior Alex Turner earned all-state honors by crushing the competition for the 3A discus title with a 161-foot, 3-inch effort, separating himself from the field by almost 18 feet. By also placing third in the shot put, Turner accounted for 16 Eagle points.

Freshman Joseph Turner scored the other three points for the Eagles with a sixth-place discus toss.

Seniors James Harward and Max Turner and junior Jaxon Peacock also qualified for and competed at the state culminating meet on behalf of the Eagles.

The Lyman Eagles and Lady Eagles track and field teams are coached by Loren Huntsman.
