EVANSTON — American Legion Medicine Butte Post 41 recently recognized three more local residents with its annual awards. Evanston Police Chief Jon Kirby was previously honored as 2018 Officer of the Year.
Chris Collins was named Evanston Volunteer Firefighter of the Year. Fire chief Don Bodine wrote in his recommendation letter: “Chris has been a member of the Evanston Fire Department since 2012. He is proficient as a structural firefighter, currently certified as a Firefighter I. He is certified in hazardous materials operations and is also red card certified for wildland firefighting.
Angela Hatch, who’s been an active member of the Evanston Ambulance Service since 2000, was named EMT of the Year. Bodine said Hatch is an experienced EMT who is dedicated to providing quality pre-hospital care.
Uinta County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Travis Gregory was named Lawman of the Year.
“Deputy Gregory cares about the public he serves and is especially familiar with the people in the Bridger Valley,” Sheriff Doug Matthews wrote in a nomination letter. “This is community policing at its core. Gregory recognizes that law enforcement is most effective when we partner with the community we serve.”
