Karl Behunin

Karl Behunin, age 85, passed away at home on his ranch, surrounded by family, in Fort Bridger, on Monday, July 25. Karl was born on Dec. 31, 1936, in Rock Springs, to Orson and Christena (Slagowski) Behunin. Karl was the fourth of six children: Don Behunin, Bonnie Jorgensen, Shirley McAlister, Myrna Lupher and Geri Lofton. They were raised in Burntfork (Sweetwater County).

He attended Burntfork and McKinnon country schools and graduated from Manila High School. As a teenager, Karl worked on the Hickey Ranch and rodeoed as a young man.

On Feb. 1, 1958, Karl married Deanna Coonradt on the C.B. Hamilton Ranch, in Fort Bridger. They had five children — Kevin, Jill, Frostie, Rhonda, and Jody — whom they raised on their cattle ranch.

Karl worked for Union Telephone, going across the western states setting up telephone poles and lines for the company. He later worked at FMC trona mine, where he retired after 30 years, making many good friends while there.

Karl is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Don; sisters, Shirley, Bonnie and Geri; and daughter, Jody.

He is survived by his wife, Deanna; son, Kevin (Karla) Behunin; daughters, Jill (Mark) Brown, Frostie Egley and Rhonda (April) Behunin; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, July 30, at the Mountain View High School auditorium. Viewing will be at 10 a.m., with services at 11 a.m. A viewing will be held at Crandall Funeral home Friday from 6 to 8 p.m.
