BARTOW, Fla. — June L. Purdy, 91, died Saturday, May 27, at home in Bartow, Fla.

She was born June 29, 1925, to Lida (Yuppa) and George Dahl, she grew up in New York and blissfully resided in Bridger Valley from 1981-2010, where she was an active parishioner of St. Helen’s Catholic Church. Her strong will was engulfed in a gentle and loving nature, which she unconditionally extended to everyone who knew her.

As a young lady of education and beauty, she married Joseph V. Purdy, a kind-spirited and dashing Navy man. They embraced one another through nearly 64 years of marriage and raised 11 children together. They were a true testament to the power of love, faith and compromise.

June blessed us all with her sharp mind and prodigious heart. She is now reunited with her parents; her beloved husband, Joe Sr. (fourth degree Knight of Columbus); her dearest little sister, Miriam, whom she lost at the tender age of 9; three of her gifted sons: George, Joe Jr. and Timmy; and her ethereal grandson, Daniel.

She will be sorrowfully missed and her longevity celebrated by her surviving family: daughters, Anita Governale and Lida Purdy; sons: Thomas, Laurence, Louis, Leo, Marty and Victor; her 36 grandchildren and ever expanding lineage of great-grandchildren.

A rosary and Mass service was held for her at 7:30 a.m. on June 2, at Resurrection Church in Lakeland, Fla. There will also be a service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Fort Bridger, followed by a burial at the Fort Bridger Cemetery.
