Joseph Dale Williams

Joseph Dale Williams passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family in his home in Cheyenne, on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at the age of 93. Joe was born on Sept. 26, 1924, in Evanston, to John Wesley Williams and Minerva (Peg) Carpenter Williams.

Joe spent his youth in Almy and later Evanston, where he met Elaine Condos, the love of his life. Joe and Elaine married on Dec. 30, 1946, at the LDS bishop’s home in Coalville, Utah — they recently celebrated their 70th anniversary. They called Evanston home until 1972, when they relocated to Cheyenne.

Joe retired from working for the Union Pacific Railroad, and post-retirement he worked as a skilled lapidary, enjoying rock-hounding, and making jewelry and knives.

As a proud Wyoming native, he was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, hunting, camping, watching wildlife and the Wyoming Cowboys.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert John Williams; sister, Shirley Ruth Jackson; daughter, Jo Ann Ray.

He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine; sister, Bonnie Louise Tousley; son, Dale Wesley Williams; daughter, and caregiver Kathy Williams-Meyers; 10 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service for Joe will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, at Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston. A viewing will be held Friday evening at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m., as well as one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Interment will follow services at the Evanston City Cemetery.
