John Randall Bond passed away at the University of Utah Hospital on June 4. He was born Aug. 26, 1955, to Emery J. and Joy Bond in Evanston. Randy was the fourth of five children.

Randy married Charlotte Moon on Nov.  6, 1981. They were married for 35 years.

He started working in the hay fields for Bud Fearn, Dick McGraw and other ranchers, when he was young. In high school he would buy vehicles, do mechanical work to fix them up and then sell them. He also worked for Dave Moon in his garage. Randy graduated from Evanston High School in 1974. He was a mechanic for Lincoln Service and worked at the State Hospital for a couple of years in the adolescent ward, while he was trying to decide if he wanted to be a mechanic for the rest of his life. Randy went to work for the city of Evanston and was lead mechanic for 33 years.

Randy trapped beaver and other animals and made beaver hide pictures. He was an avid fisherman and loved fishing year round. He was even on TV while ice fishing. The men who were on TV weren’t catching any fish and Randy was a few yards away and had six fish on the ice. So they went over and talked to Randy for a couple of minutes on TV. He also liked to go elk hunting. Randy tied flies, reloaded ammunition and was an artist.

Randy is survived by his wife, Charlotte; son, Jerry Randall; daughter, Elisha (Kirk) Forney; sister Sharon Marmon; niece, Debbie (Dave) Hoadley; nephews, Jerry (Darrel) Marmon, Doug (Sarah) Marmon and Tom Marmon; six grandchildren – Skyler, Athena, Madison, Mikayla, Tristen and Mason; and one great-granddaughter, Rylee.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, siblings Charlene, Vance and James and grandson Cameron Forney.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 10, at 10 a.m. at the 4th Ward LDS Church on Sage Street in Evanston.
