Jimmie (Jim) LeRoy Henderson

Jim left this world peacefully at his son’s home in Utah with family at his side.

Jim was born on Oct. 16, 1933, in Randolph, Utah, to Clifford and Sylvia (Snowball) Henderson and raised in Evanston.

Jim graduated from Evanston High School. He met the love of his life, Susan Carruth, and they were married on June 20, 1959, in Evanston. Jim rode the rollercoaster of life with Susan by his side until the day he died.

Early in their marriage, Jim and Susan lived in Salt Lake City, Evanston and Laramie. He graduated from the University of Wyoming with honors, an accounting degree, and their first son. Soon after graduation they moved to California for work and added another son to the family.

They lived there for 13 years before coming back home to Evanston to be near family. In Evanston, Jim opened his own accounting firm, and they added two children to the family, a son and a daughter. They lived in the town of Evanston up to their golden years and then later in life moved outside of town to Wild River Ranches near the Uinta Mountains, which they loved. In the final years of his life, they lived near family in Galveston, Texas, and South Jordan, Utah.

Jim loved his family, his friends, and the city of Evanston. He loved his career and worked hard as a CPA until he retired. He loved his country, which he served in the U.S. Army and was a proud veteran.

One of Jim’s favorite activities was golfing. Jim and Susan were members of the Purple Sage Golf Club. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, snowshoeing, his dogs, campfires, grilling, hunting for old bottles, going for casual drives in the mountains and, of course, playing poker and listening to anything by Johnny Cash!

There will never be a day he is not thought of with love and respect. He was loved by all who met him.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Henderson; his children, Mark (Kim), Brad (Connie), Bryan (Melanie), and his daughter, Jamie, who lit up Jim’s eyes every time she entered the room; his grandchildren, Kristin (Tanner) Robinson, Nathan, Lee French, Will, Jordan, Cassidy and Brayden; his great-grandchildren, Caroline, Audrey, and Mia Robinson; his sisters-in-law, Jane Davis Henderson and Karen Carruth Calvert.

Jim was preceded in death by both parents and all four siblings: Mary, Sheldon, Carol, and Dale.

A memorial open house will be held from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Beeman-Cashin Building in Depot Square, located at 35 10th Street in Evanston.
