Jerry Lyman Yates, 79, passed away in Bridger Valley, on Monday, Sept. 4. He was born Nov. 28, 1937, to James Yates and Velma Luce in Park City, Utah.

Jerry married the love of his life, Flora Lake, on July 25, 1964. They had two children together: Patrick T. Yates, and Jerrie Lynn Davis.

Jerry served his country honorably, serving during the Korean War as a radio communications officer in the United States Army.

He loved his family and his dogs. Some of his hobbies included camping and riding horses, and he was a fanatic about rock hunting.

Jerry is survived by his two children, Jerrie Lynn (Todd) Davis and Patrick T. Yates. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Steven Yates, Timmy Yates, Misty Jorgensen, Levi Anderson and Kendra Yates; and great-grandchildren, Braxlynn Jorgensen, Mackayla Arthur, Sheridan Basset and many other grandchildren and step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Flora Yates; parents, James and Velma; brother, James Yates; sister, Cheryl Yates; and a grandbaby, Jesse Jorgensen.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at the American Legion Hall Post No. 36 in Fort Bridger.
