Jeannette Elaine Nason Johannessen, former lifelong resident of La Veta, Colorado, passed peacefully March 16, 2021 in her home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Mountain View Baptist Church in La Veta, Colorado.
Jeannette “Jet” was born Sept. 17, 1954 in Walsenberg, Colorado, to Dan and Mary Nason. She graduated from La Veta High School in 1972. During those high school years, she was an active member of Rainbow and Student Council. Jeannette reigned as president of Pep Club her senior year.
Jet was a loving devoted wife to Leif Eddy Johannessen Sr. During their life together they raised a blended family including Jet’s three daughters, Tanya, Shannon and Michelle; and Ed’s two children, Christy and Eddy Jr. While Jeannette was a lifelong resident of La Veta, Colorado, she and Ed traveled through Wyoming, Utah and Colorado where they would temporarily build a homestead during his work stretches in the oil field
Jeannette was an active member in La Veta Chamber with Cheryl Rosenberg. She and Cheryl were also long-time business owners of the Gathering Place. While she was a dedicated member to her community, her heart was centered around her family. Jet most enjoyed being Boo Boo to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jeannette is survived by her mother, Mary Louise Nason; brother, Ralph and Kay Nason; sister, Donna Adams; sister-in-law, Cheryl Rosenberg; daughters, Tanya and Michelle; stepchildren, Christy Johannessen-Willis and Eddy Johannessen Jr.; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her father, Dan Nason; husband, Ed Johannessen; daughter, Shannon Bruce; brother, Danny Nason; brothers-in-law, Carl Roberts, Mark Adams; son-in-law, Joe Bruce; mother- and father-in-law, Leif and Salvia Johannessen.
