High Uinta Gymnastics (HUG) hosted the USA Gymnastics Wyoming state trampoline and tumbling championship meet on April 22. The championship meet had 30 competitors, levels 1 to 7, competing for state titles. Big Piney Tumblers, Bridger Valley Tumblers, and HUG battled it out for the top state honors and the opportunity to qualify Level 5 and above athletes for the Stars & Stripes National Championships. HUG qualified eight tumblers, six on trampoline, and nine double mini-trampoline competitors for the USA-Gymnastics Stars and Stripes National Trampoline and Tumbling Championships to be held in Tulsa, Okla., July 19-23.
At this championship meet the competitors competed on the trampoline, the double-mini trampoline, and the power tumbling floor. The amazing athletes qualifying for nationals in all three events were Kylie Thomson, Charmayne Huffaker, Dixie Huffaker, Chancie Shafer, and Kyler Hogman. Qualifying in two events were Ashley Martin, Victoria Aimone, and Austin Robertson. Qualifying for nationals in one event which Jaden Grasse and Isabella Aimone on double-mini trampoline.
“It was a great meet, you don’t know how lucky you are to have such a great facility and team and thanks for coaching our kids since our coach was out of town at Robotic Nationals in Houston,” remarked one of the Big Piney parents.
The HUG team, pre-team, and hot-shot classes are gearing up for the USA-Gymnastics Regional Trampoline and Tumbling Championships to be held in Las Vegas, Nev., May 12-14, which is a battle of state champions from Alaska, Utah, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Nebraska, Washington, and Wyoming. This regional championships meet is the last qualifier for nationals and is the culminating event for the athletes not attending nationals. HUG qualified 24 athletes to attend the “regional” event and 10 athletes will be attending: Kylie Thomson, Charmayne Huffaker, Dixie Huffaker, Ashley Martin, Victoria Aimone, Isabella Aimone, Jaden Grasse, Madison Graham, Kinley Graham and Revlynn Stiglitz.
