Helen Coleman Dorethy

Helen Coleman Dorethy, 73, of Evanston, passed away Friday, April 30, in Nephi, Utah, with her sister by her side. She was born on Dec. 23, 1947, in Waukegan, Illinois, to David B. Coleman and Mary Eleanor Markham Dimmitt.

She married Thomas G. Dorethy on April 29, 1972, in Colchester, Illinois. They were later sealed in the St. George, Utah, Temple.

Helen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  She served in many church callings in the Young Women’s and was Relief Society president three different times.

She is survived by her daughter, Tawny Dorethy Ivie (Lynn) of Fountain Green, Utah; six grandchildren: Brianna, Spencer, Daimian, Airianna, Isabella and Azaliah, all of Utah.

She is also survived by her sister, Joan Dimmitt Balser of Palisade, Colorado; niece, Valorie Castle of Grand Junction, Colorado; nephew, Daymon Balser of Manta, Ecuador; and sisters-in-law, Jane Royer of Good Hope, Illinois, and Janet Dorethy of Brookings, South Dakota.

Proceeding her in death are her parents; her husband, Thomas G. Dorethy; and brother-in-law, Alan Balser.

The family wishes to thank Intermountain Medical Center in Murray,  Utah, for taking such great care of her and also Heritage Hills Rehabilitation & Care Center in Nephi, Utah. We are forever grateful for all your help. Also, thank you to Gwenda Batty for always being there to take my mom to any appointments she had, shopping and having lunch together.

Burial and graveside services were held in the Evanston City Cemetery.
