Halliday hired to lead chamber

EVANSTON — Tammy Mathson Halliday is the new executive director for the Evanston Chamber of Commerce. Halliday started her new position on Monday, July 23, and she said she is “super excited.”

Halliday is an Evanston native, born and raised here with a long history of family ties to the area. She moved away for a time but came back in 2015 to the town she loves. She has two grown sons and a daughter, and she is grandmother to three grandchildren. Halliday said she loves that Evanston and the surrounding area have so much to offer in outdoor activities and sports that she enjoys.

When Halliday lived in Seattle for 10 years, she was the accounts payable supervisor for a construction firm. That experience, plus working at the Evanston Senior Center as the administrative assistant to the director and as the activities director, combine to give her a strong professional background to take on her role at the chamber.

“I look forward to teaming up with the business community in Evanston,” she said, “exploring innovative ideas and finding new ways to promote existing businesses as well as bringing new businesses to Evanston.
