On Tuesday, I wrote a column voicing my frustration about the number of disrespectful phone calls and social media messages I have received for not covering the University of Wyoming.
I’ve received a few more since then.
Not to beat a dead horse, but the staff at Uinta County Herald stands behind its position about making local athletics the focal part of our publication.
I know there will still be a select few that disagree with this decision. And to be fair, there were a select few that were outspoken about how I have been running the sports section. It still frustrated me.
As one local coach told me, that is something I need to let roll off my shoulder.
But enough of that.
I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to those in the community that came to my defense about this issue. I felt like George Bailey at the end of It’s a Wonderful Life.
For outpouring support, I am truly appreciative.
While there has been some negative feedback, the positives outweigh the negative 99 to 1.
I have had people approach me that I’ve never met shake my hand and tell me to keep up the good work. I’ve received some of the nicest phone calls, emails and social media posts I’ve ever come across in my life.
Coaches in the area have been just as supportive, and I cannot thank them enough. Not just for having my back, but for the extra time they take out of their day to conduct interviews with me and email me results for events I am not able to attend.
As I stated in my previous column, I like Evanston. I think it is a great town with some wonderful people.
To my readers, thank you again for your continued support, and I swear I will stick to my promise to put out the best darn sports section out there.
P.S.
I'm not going anywhere.
