Golf team ends season strong

The Evanston High School golf teams have had a good season and are looking forward to finishing off in the fall. 

“Our teams played some great golf,” said coach Jerry Carroll. “It has to be some of the best scoring all season. It is a pleasure to coach these athletes.”

The Evanston golfers traveled to Casper on May 15-16 to compete against seven other teams, including Kelly Walsh, Green River, Natrona, Jackson, Riverton nd Rock Springs. 

Boys

The boys’ team finished in third place with a team score of 328 on the first day and 336 on the second day for a total of 660. Kelly Walsh was first with a total of 588 and Riverton was second with 599.

Noah Linford, who is All Conference, had a score of 74 the first day and 78 the second for 152 total score.

Hunter Robbins had 84 on the first day and then shot a 77 on the second day for a total of 161.

Brady Hurd shot an 84 on the first day and 88 on the second for a total of 172.

Dominic D’Anzi shot an 86 the first day and a 91 the second for a total of 177.

Mason Smith shot a 91 on day one and improved his game day two by shooting an 89 for a total of 180.

Girls

The girls’ team also finished third with a score of 262 on the first day and 261 the second day for a total of 523. Kelly Walsh was first with a total score of 502 and Natrona was second with 519.

Taryn Mayer, who is All Conference, shot a total of 86 on the first day and an 83 on the second day for a total of 169.

Lexi Cornia, All Conference, shot an 87 on the first day and then an 89 on the second day for a total of 176.

Kyra Sponenburgh, also All Conference, shot an 89 on both days for a total of 178.

Hannah Ellingford shot a 94 on day one and 102 on the second day for a total of 196.

Lauren Ellingford shot a 101 on the first day and 100 on the second day for a total of 201.

The teams played at the Three Crowns golf course in Casper and then they played at Paradise Golf.

“It has been a great season,” said Carroll. “We are looking forward to the fall.”
