EVANSTON — The Herald has touched base with Lady Red Devil swimming and diving head coach, Kate O’Rourke Schmidt, but has not yet had the opportunity to stop by a practice session to snap a photo or two and converse with the coaching staff.
Schmidt will likely know a great deal more about her team and how they stack up with some of their competition after this Friday’s meet in Rawlins.
Evanston has historically begun each season by competing in the Rawlins Pentathlon. The pentathlon is grueling for a first-time-out meet, as every girl will compete in every event. Coaching staffs come away with a better gauge of their team’s strengths and areas needing improvement or increased depth.
Following the Rawlins Pentathlon, Lady Red Devil swimming and diving’s schedule is as follows:
8/31 Jackson
9/1 at Green River
9/7 at Laramie
9/8 at Cheyenne South
9/15 at Green River
9/18 at Lyman
9/22 Evanston Invitational
9/25 Rock Springs
9/29 at Pinedale
10/2 Lyman
10/6 at Rock Springs
10/10 at Rock Springs
10/19-10/20 Regionals at Kelly Walsh
10/25 at Lyman
11/1-11/2 State at Laramie
