EVANSTON — The Evanston High School girls’ soccer team hosted two Casper teams for matches over the weekend at the Evanston Middle School field. The first was against Kelly Walsh on Friday, and the Lady Devils took on Natrona County on Saturday.
Evanston lost to Kelly Walsh 4-1, after a hard-fought game by the Red Devils.
“Friday we were able to perform a lot of the things that we’d been practicing,” said coach Chuck Grenfell.
The matchup on Saturday against Natrona County was much lower energy. The team of local girls were defeated with a final score of 4-0.
Grenfell said the team has faced an uphill battle the last week with the “injury bug” making its way through the lineup.
The girls have started to become accustomed to playing where they’re needed on a game-by-game basis.
“They have kind of grasped the idea that the team needs me here so this is where I need to play,” said Grenfell.
On Tuesday, April 24, the girls will host Rock Springs at 3 p.m. at the EMS field.
