George Matthew Badovinatz, 62, of Farmington, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, May 18, in Farmington. He was born Dec. 20, 1954, to Ruby and Butter Badovinatz in Bingham Canyon, Utah.

George grew up in Bingham Canyon and Sandy, Utah, with his sisters Nancy, Diane and George (Beanie). Growing up, he enjoyed playing baseball, football and golf. He would continue to enjoy golf for the rest of his life.

George was honorably discharged from the Army after spending two years in Germany.

George married his wife and best friend, Kathy Hunsaker, in the summer of 1981, and he loved her every second thereafter.

He began his career at Chevron in January of 1982, as a roustabout in Evanston. His niece Mindy, whom George treated like a daughter, was born in 1985. His sons Mike and Eric were born in 1989 and 1993. George loved his children with all his heart and was forever proud of their accomplishments.

He coached youth sports, served as a Scout leader and followed his kids around the country to watch them perform in all their activities.

During his 35 years with Chevron, George lived in Evanston; Vernal, Utah; Grand Junction, Colorado; and Farmington, New Mexico. He constantly worked hard to support his family, making his way up from a roustabout to an operation supervisor. He loved all his family, friends and colleagues dearly.

George was preceded in death by his mother, father, brother-in-law and niece. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sons Mike and Eric, his three sisters and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 26, at Martin Mortuary in Grand Junction, Colorado. Following the service, George will be buried at the Memorial Gardens in Grand Junction.
