EVANSTON  — Former Evanston resident Nathan LeForce has been arrested and charged with murder in Oklahoma after allegedly shooting a sheriff’s deputy.

Deputy David Wade was serving an eviction notice at Mulhall Road near I-35 in Logan County, Oklahoma, when LeForce allegedly shot Wade several times in the body and face and then stole Wade’s car. LeForce seemingly has no ties to the property where he shot Wade, nor was his name on the eviction notice. After a lengthy manhunt, law enforcement found LeForce hiding in a shed.

According to KFOR, LeForce was charged Thursday with first-degree murder, larceny of a motor vehicle and first degree robbery in connection with Wade’s shooting death. He has been denied bond.

Wade was a husband and a father to three children.

Logan County District Attorney Laura Thomas intends to seek the death penalty, according to KFOR.

LeForce, who is 45, had multiple run-ins with Evanston police during his time in Evanston. Lt. Ken Pearson said that LeForce’s juvenile record is sealed, but he has had several arrests since he turned 18 in 1990.

“We’ve been dealing with him before 1990, but that juvenile record’s sealed,” Pearson said.

According to police records, LeForce was arrested on warrant in 1990, for false information and for driving under suspension in 1997 and for driving under suspension in March of 1997.

The Evanston Police Department last had contact with LeForce in 1997.
