Evanston Fire Cpt. Tim Overy assesses a mobile home at South Park Village as it burns Thursday, March 1. The home, located just off Yellow Creek Road, caught fire around 10 a.m. The family who lives there was able to escape without injury, though officials on scene feared that a cat and a dog weren’t able to make it out of the home. EPD Sgt. Don Shillcox said the man who owns the home smelled smoke and immediately evacuated his family. Scanner traffic indicated the insulation under the mobile home had caught fire and spread quickly. The incident is under investigation. (HERALD PHOTO/Bryon Glathar)
