Evanston to host fly fishing film festival

For more than 10 years, fly anglers, sportsmen, sportswomen, and conservationists in Uinta County have enjoyed the Upper Bear River Trout Unlimited fundraising banquet. Monies raised have been used locally to improve habitat, cut a fish ladder into an Evanston diversion dam that opened up 60 river miles to spawning fish, stop fish migration into the Booth irrigation ditch to save a valuable resource, and sponsor, every June, Kids’ Fishing Day at the Bear Ponds, to name just a few projects. UBRTU has provided donations to Reel Recovery (men with cancer), Casting for Recovery (women with breast cancer), Project Healing Waters (veterans with PTSD) and other worthy organizations incorporating fly fishing into their programs. UBRTU members have always been busy in the community.

In 2019, we are bringing something new to Evanston and Uinta County. Get ready to be entertained by great, short, fly fishing films from around the world. The International Fly Fishing Film Festival (IF4) has filmed huge arapaima caught in Brazil; Atlantic salmon and Arctic char in Iceland; anglers throwing mice patterns to gigantic ‘bows and browns in Alaska; and intrepid anglers hooking taimen in the most remote salmonid habitat on earth ... Mongolia. Other films explore human interest stories with anglers on the water. They feature two hours of breathtaking, beautiful HD video sure to please fly anglers and anybody who loves the outdoors and public lands. See the trailer at https://vimeo.com/307334561.

Please join UBRTU at the Strand Theater in downtown Evanston on Saturday, April 27, at 7 p.m. for IF4. However, don’t wait, doors open at 5 p.m. for other amusements.
