On Monday, the American Legion Post 41 Evanston Outlaws played two games; the first was against Wasatch Gold and then Wasatch Black. Wasatch Gold defeated them but the Outlaws put together a good game against Wasatch Black.

The game against Wasatch Gold was a close game. By the bottom of the second inning Wasatch Gold jumped out to a 4-0 lead over the Outlaws. In the top of the third inning, a double by Braedon MacDonald allowed Seth Lloyd to score.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Wasatch Gold extended their lead 5-1 and added another run in the bottom of the sixth inning giving them a 6-1 lead.

The Outlaws were not ready to give up on the game and in the top of the seventh inning, Reid Gross advanced to second base on a wild pitch and then Hunter Hicks tripled on a fly ball to right field. Gross scored Evanston’s second run of the game.

Brenden Thompson walked to first with Hicks still on third base. Seth Lloyd singled on a ground ball to second base and Hicks scored while Thompson advanced to third base. MacDonald hit a fly ball to left field and Thompson scored. After a walk by Beau Lloyd and Cris Periman, Seth Lloyd was able to score for the Outlaws.

The Outlaws couldn’t quite overcome the deficit and lost the game 6-5.

The second game of the day against Wasatch Black went better for the Outlaws, who won the game 5-2.

Wasatch Black scored first in the bottom of the second inning when G. Rawlins scored on an error by Outlaws pitcher Seth Lloyd.

In the top of the third inning, Hunter Hicks singled on a fly ball to left field and then Hicks stole second base. Seth Lloyd singled on a fly ball to left field and Hicks was able to tie the game 1-1.

In the bottom of the third inning, Wasatch Black was able to tie the score again when Jackson Colette singled on a fly ball to left field that allowed Roden Baxter to score.

In the top of the fourth inning, Thompson walked and after Gross popped out, Hicks singled on a fly ball to left field. Thompson advanced to third base and Brandon Wicks walked. The Outlaws had the bases loaded when Seth Lloyd walked and Thompson scored. Wasatch Black walked two more Outlaws, Braeden MacDonald, and Griffen Mitchell, allowig two more Outlaw runs and giving the Outlaws the win 5-2.
