EVANSTON — Roger A. Petersen, 51, was arrested on Wednesday, April 5, for domestic assault and for interfering with an emergency phone call.
According to court documents, police responded to Shirley Petersen’s home on Elm Street at about 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5. Dispatch had received a call 20 minutes earlier, which was cut off in the midst of a man and woman arguing. When the police arrived, they allegedly heard from all involved — Roger Petersen, Andrea White, 31, Shirley Petersen, 79, and White’s 13-year-old son — that Roger Petersen had confronted White, become involved in a shoving match with her and had hung up the phone when she tried to call 911.
Roger Petersen pleaded guilty to interfering with a 911 call on Friday, April 7. He was also originally accused of simple assault, but that charge was dismissed at the hearing.
Petersen was sentenced to 180 days in jail, a fine and the requirement that he seek anger management evaluation. He is also forbidden contact with Andrea White and Shirley Petersen.
