EVANSTON — An Evanston man was arrested on a charge of suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing incident that occurred on the morning of Saturday, April 21, at the convenience store at Bear River Lodge in the Uintas.

According to statements from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, the stabbing occurred just before 10 a.m. Saturday, when 45-year-old Charles Ryan Hendricks of Evanston allegedly stabbed a 62-year-old man from Magna, Utah, in the neck.

According to multiple news reports, the two men, who were unacquainted, bumped into one another in the doorway of the store. Hendricks allegedly then suddenly stabbed the Utah man in the neck. Witnesses at the scene provided aid to the injured man and called 911, while others physically detained Hendricks until law enforcement arrived.

The injured man was transferred to Evanston Regional Hospital for stabilization and was then transferred via helicopter to a Salt Lake City hospital. He was said to be in stable condition.

Hendricks was booked into the Summit County Jail in Utah.
