An Evanston police officer directs traffic as crews work to clear the corner of Sage and Harrison streets on Tuesday afternoon. This accident, caused by the driver of the Chevy sedan shown, according to the police report, was the fourth accident on Tuesday that EPD responded to in just 89 minutes. EPD Lt. Mike Vranish said officers reported to two more accidents later that same day, bringing the total to six in-town accidents on Tuesday, many more than average. Vranish said officers responded to 27 accidents in all of February. He didn’t have an explanation for Tuesday’s busy traffic day, saying it was just bad luck for those involved. Vranish said no one was hurt, and that the damages pictured are from the worst of the six accidents. (HERALD PHOTO/Mark Tesoro)
