She was born in Evanston, on June 1, 1958, to Shirley Ruth Petersen and Harold John Petersen.

Dorothy is survived by her two children, Andrea White and Jared (Dani) Olsen. She proudly and humbly raised her nephew, David Petersen; and her nieces, Nicole and Katie Petersen, whom she earnestly considered to be her own children. She is preceded in death by her father and guardian angel, Harold John Petersen.

She devoted her entire life to raising her children. The later years of her life were spent enriching and nurturing the lives of her beloved grandchildren. Family meant everything to her, and her greatest joy came from the precious moments she shared with her grandchildren. Dorothy also loved to bake and enjoyed working on various crafts. She is known for her huge heart and for the support she so willingly offered her friends and family.

The family wishes to extend their deepest appreciation to her doctors, nurses, and the medical staff at the University of Utah Hospital, as well as her nurses and medical staff at the Evanston Regional Hospital Dialysis Center for the loving and outstanding care they provided during her final years.

Please join the family for a celebration of life service on Friday, Aug. 13, at 11 a.m. at Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston. A private family interment will immediately follow at the Evanston City Cemetery.

A reception for friends and family to share their memories will be held at 1 p.m. at Brown Park, in Evanston.
