Dodie Horton passed away peacefully on Sept. 20, in Evanston, at the age of 86, after enduring three and a half years of life with lung cancer.
Dodie and her twin brother, Dean, were born on Dec 9, 1931, in Tice, Kansas, to Russell and Pearl Shearer. Dodie was the last of her many siblings, and is survived by her daughter, Holly Horton, also of Evanston, and many other loving relatives and close friends.
Dodie’s life was a book with unique and wonderful chapters, and she enjoyed all of them thoroughly. She acquired a great many strong friendships throughout her life that she fondly and faithfully nurtured to her final day.
It was Dodie’s request that there be no service or funeral, and her request will be honored.
Her passing has left a vast hole in the lives of the many people who loved her dearly, and she will always be greatly missed.
