Devils lose another close one, look forward to home games this week

Posted

The Evanston high school boys soccer team traveled to Jackson for a Friday night match with the Broncs. Evanston (0-4-0 in conference) generated the first of many scoring opportunities and kept possession of the ball for a majority of the match.

Good shooting from the Broncs (1-2-0 in conference), however,  and some critical errors by the Devils resulted in another close loss for EHS, 1-3. Latham Chandler played well in the goal for the Devils. Nick Kunz, Carlos Tapia, Carter Garfias and Tyus Cornia all played well defensively.

Jess Richins scored the Devils’ lone goal on a long shot in which Fransi Killo ran in front of the Jackson goal keeper, distracting him enough to allow the ball to find the net. Many players contributed to the effort including sophomore Brandon Sanchez, who saw his first varsity action of the season and played well.

Next up for the Devils will be their first home matches of the season as they face Kelly Walsh and Natrona County high schools on Friday and Saturday, April 20-21, at the Evanston Middle School field.

The Friday match will be at 5 p.m., while the Saturday varsity match will be at 1 p.m. JV matches will be held at the Evanston High School practice field; they are scheduled for 3 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday.

The Devils are anxious to perform in front of Evanston’s traditionally loud and  rowdy home crowd.
