FORT BRIDGER — Uinta County Democrats held a rally and barbecue picnic at the home of Pete and Barbara Roitz in Fort Bridger on Saturday, Aug. 18. Approximately 50 people from Evanston and Bridger Valley attended. Political candidates in attendance were Dave Tanner of Robertson running for Uinta County Commission and Travis Helm of Cheyenne running for U.S. House of Representatives. Also attending the rally was Dean Fergusen, executive director of the state Democrat Party and Dana Pertermann, state field rep for the Democrats.
As county party chair, Dave Tanner held a short meeting before the barbecue. He reported on the $250 that the county Democrats had donated to the Cowboy Care Bus which provides school supplies for underprivileged children. The Democrat donation will be split between Bridger Valley and Evanston. He also stated that Gary Trauner, Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate, met with the steel workers union recently for a very good turnout and response. Tanner then turned the time over to Travis Helm to speak.
Helm began by stating, “I am owning being a Democrat and I’m not afraid to say it. I am wild enough to run for office and I’m working to build the State party. To Liz Cheney I said, ‘You can’t say you’re for family values and rip immigrant families apart.’ We Democrats win every time we stand up for family values and speak out against what is happening to immigrant families.”
Helm then thanked all for their support and said he depends on each and every Democrat to vote.
Tanner then invited all to enjoy the food, the lovely environment and good company.
