CASPER – The Evanston, Mountain View and Lyman volleyball teams all lost in the opening round of the state tournament at the Casper Events Center on Thursday.
In Class 4A, the Lady Red Devils (No. 4 West) were competitive in all three sets, but suffered a 25-23, 26-24, 25-20 loss to Laramie (No. 1 East).
Evanston will now play in a first-round consolation game at 1 p.m. Friday against Natrona (No. 2 West).
Mountain View (No. 4 West) lost its first-round match in Class 3A to Douglass. The Lady Bearcats claimed a 25-20, 25-15, 23-25, 25-21 win against the Lady Buffalos.
Mountain View will square off against Star Valley (No. 2 West) in a consolation game at 1 p.m. Friday.
Lyman (No. 3 West) came up short to Rawlins (No. 2 East) in the Lady Eagles first-round match. Rawlins held off a late attack by Lyman to earn the 25-22, 25-21, 22-25, 28-26 win.
The Lady Eagle will play Torrington (No. 4 East) at 2:30 p.m. Friday.
Evanston, Mountain View and Lyman must win on Friday in order for the season to continue.
