Craig Allan Griffith, age 75, left us on Monday, Aug. 20, at Spirit Mountain Hospice. Craig was passionate about his family, hunting, fishing, livestock and his careers.

After retiring from Amoco Corporation with over 20 years of service, Craig purchased a wilderness hunting camp west of Meeteetse and started Double Diamond Outfitters. For several years, he successfully guided hunters from all parts of the world. Then in 1990, Craig sold his Greybull River camp and purchased the Wood River Lodge with two wilderness hunting camps on the South Fork of the Wood River located just south of his Greybull River camp.

For the next 25 years, Craig was able to manage various large cattle ranches, run his own livestock and ultimately start Mill Iron Rodeo Cattle. He later moved to the South Fork outside of Cody, and continued buying, selling and moving cattle to all parts of the country, even in his last few days.

Craig loved his work, he loved his outdoors and he loved his family. These were his life, and he lived every day for them all.

Craig was born Dec. 21, 1942, in Miles City, Montana, to Thomas Alyn Griffith and Alice (Michaelson) Griffith, who have preceded him in death. Craig is the brother of Donna Griffith, Maralee Johns and Bicki Shaver.

Craig and Janet (Eichler) Griffith are the parents of twin sons, Todd Allen and Toby Lee Griffith of Evanston, and grandparents of Todd and Wendy (Myers) with children Trey and Tiana Griffith, also of Evanston.

For the past 20 years, Craig has been married to Virginia (Quick) of Cody. Virginia is the mother to Andy and Amy (Tripe) Quick, Adam and Denise (Lewis) Quick, and Phillip and Erika (Ivanoff) Quick. Virginia has six grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned for early October in Meeteetse. Craig’s family thanks the staff of Spirit Mountain Hospice for their loving care and suggest donations on Craig’s behalf be given to Spirit Mountain Foundation.
