Council approves Parade of Lights

EVANSTON — The Evanston City Council met Tuesday to discuss one motion, two resolutions and two items on the consent agenda.

The first two items of discussion pertained to the Annual Parade of Lights. The council approved the parade route for the Thursday, Nov. 30, event, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Uinta County Library parking lot on Main Street and continuing to the Machine Shop and back to the library.

Councilman Dave Welling said there will be a “special guest” at the library parking lot that children will enjoy.

Main Street Promotions also requested an open container permit, which was approved for the Annual Downtown Open House, to be held from 5-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30. Open containers will be allowed from 9th Street to 11th Street and 10th Street from Front to Main.

The council authorized final acceptance and payment to Staker Parson Companies for its work on the Evanston street overlay project.

A resolution was approved to authorize the city to renew its service agreement with WETCO, Inc., to provide maintenance service with the wastewater treatment plant. WETCO has been working with city for about five years and this is the first time the cost increased. The increase amounts to about $200 for the year.

The council also passed a resolution authorizing the city to renew its contract with Delta Dental to provide city employees with a dental plan. The cost has not increased over last year, and employees will have the same coverage.
