Corey Lynn Whiting

Corey Lynn Whiting, 36, of Mountain View passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 17.

He was born to Rae Lynn and Wayne Kevin Whiting on Dec. 26, 1980, in Denver. Corey married Christin Hickman on Nov. 8, 2002, in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple, and together they had six children.

Corey will be remembered for his good-natured and fun-loving personality. Always ready with a joke or slightly inappropriate one-liner, Corey treated everyone he met like an old friend.

Corey grew up in Colorado and moved to Lyman when he was in middle school. Even at a young age, he always found a way to make people laugh and bring a smile to people’s faces. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors shooting bows and riding three-wheelers with his parents and older brother, Ryan.

He graduated from Lyman High School in 1999, after which he began working for the Town of Lyman. For the past 11 years, Corey used his many skills as a maintenance worker for the Town of Mountain View.

After he met Christin Hickman in 2002, it didn’t take him long to know he wanted to spend eternity with her.

Corey was a reliable person to turn to when someone in the community needed a hand. He could often be found fixing a car on the side of the road or dropping everything after a hard day at work to lend some help to someone who needed it. He was a hard worker, but he knew how to play, too.

He enjoyed camping, hunting and snow-machining in the Uinta Mountains, especially when he could do it with his family. He loved including his kids in whatever he was doing, whether it was chopping wood, helping out with ranch work or working with horses.

An active member of the LDS Church, Corey jumped at any chance to mentor and organize activities with the teenagers in his congregation. That youthful spark that can so often fade as the rest of us get older never went out in Corey.

Corey is survived by his wife, Christin Whiting; his children, Grace Lynn Whiting, Faith Lynn Whiting, Wade Corey Whiting, Rayna Lynn Whiting, Elise Lynn Whiting and Grady Wayne Whiting; his parents, Wayne and Rae Lynn Whiting of Urie; his grandmother, Grace Whiting of Evanston; and brother Ryan (Trisha) Whiting of Urie.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Lorraine and Leverne Bond; grandfather, Bill Whiting; and aunt, Jodie Pritchard.

A viewing for Corey will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, at the Urie LDS Stake Center. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Urie Stake Center, following a 9:30 a.m. viewing. A graveside service at the Fort Bridger Cemetery will follow the funeral.
