Charleen “Toni” Frances Byrne passed away, while surrounded by her family, at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah, on Dec. 26, 2017. She was born on Oct. 2, 1937, in Provo, Utah, to Charles and Helen Ferris. Toni was a registered nurse at the Wyoming State Hospital for more than 30 years.

Toni enjoyed bowling, reading Steven King novels, doing crossword puzzles, watching crime shows and cooking shows and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She enjoyed picnics at the ranch and at Bear River State Park, and she would cook lunch every Sunday for her family.

She was a member of the Eagles Club, serving as president and past president. She would always tell us that she was “a tough old bird.”

Toni is survived by her son, Kevin Byrne; daughter, Robin (Bruce) McConnell; son, Robert (Marie) Byrne; son, Perry (Corinna) Byrne; 12 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Geraldine Van Ausdal, Rose Ann Smith and Julie Ann Sorensen.

Toni was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Helen; and a great-grandson.

A memorial service for Toni will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, at Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston.
