Carol Sandra (Sandy) Ball passed away unexpectedly in Salt Lake City, on Friday, Nov. 9. Sandy was born in Berkley, California, Dec. 26, 1952.

Sandy was blessed with her only son, Hito Lee, in 1970. Sandy treasured the time they had together and after his death, she moved to Evanston, where she met the love of her life, Kevin (Punky) Ball. They shared a special love for each other and Punk helped Sandy to find joy in her life once again. They married on March 25, 1988, and eventually made their home in Winnemucca, Nevada, where they lived until Punk’s death in 2005.

Sandy returned to Evanston and made her home there until her passing. Sandy loved spending time with family and having coffee with friends at Jody’s Diner. She loved her soaps, Sponge Bob and, most of all, her lounge wear. Sandy found joy in simple things, she loved chotskies, and she had many unique treasures in her home and yard. Her unique spirit and laugh will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her sister, Paula (Tom) Wall; brother, Butch (Liz) Mora; sisters, Lillian Mora, JoAnn Ortiz, Theresa (John) Valdez, Tracey Mora and Sheri and Toby Mora; sisters-in-law Kathy Ball, Chris (Larry) Lym and Jennifer Boggess; her special niece, Debbie Gardea; along with many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kevin; son, Hito; her parents, Augustine and Mary Vigil; her birthmother, Rose Mora; brother, Andrew “Gordo” Mora; and her niece, Amber Wall.

Catholic Mass will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Evanston City Cemetery.
