Brent Eugene Williams, 85, passed away on Sunday, March 20, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on June 25, 1936, in Malad City, Idaho, to Leland and Zilpha (White) Williams.

On May 29, 1961, he married Ivie Joan Porter in Gooding, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple in 1971.

He was a teacher and a coach in the Evanston school district for 37 years. He was “Coach Williams” to students who played basketball, ran track and played golf. He taught PE, drivers’ education and served as the athletic director during his career. Brent was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He enjoyed playing golf, hunting and camping. Time at the family ranch outside of Malad and taking drives to see the wildlife in Wyoming were very special to him. In his retirement, he was an avid Red Devil sports fan.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joan; his children, Mark Elden Williams, Brenda Jo Barnes, Kari Lee Williams, Ryan Brent (Angela) Williams, Joan Marie Williams and Jamie Diane Williams. He will also be missed by his 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his brothers, Clyde (Louise) Williams and Carl (Jeanne) Williams; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded by his daughter, Lisa Michelle Townsend; his parents, Leland and Zilpha; his sisters, Nadine Conrad, Neva Christensen and Selma Yearsley; and a brother, Larry Williams.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, at Crandall Funeral Home. Viewing will be at the funeral home Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Interment will follow in the Evanston City Cemetery.
