Posted

EVANSTON — Bear River State Park is hosting several family-friendly events throughout the summer that are free and open to the public.

Families are invited to spend the evenings of July 18 and August 15 beside the campfire making s’mores, observing wildlife and participating in kid friendly scavenger hunts at the park-sponsored event, S’more-Gasbord Adventures.

“We just try to get kids to come out and enjoy the outdoors,” Tyfani Sager of Bear River State Park said.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Rendezvous Area. RSVPs are suggested but not required. Please call Bear River State Park at (307) 789-6540 to reserve your spot.

The state park also invites you to join them for a Solar Nature Hike the morning of Aug. 21. That morning, around 11 a.m. a partial eclipse of the sun will occur over the Uinta County area.

Beginning at 10 a.m., those participating in the nature hike should meet at the Bear River State Park visitor center. Participants will tour the facility, observe wildlife and view a once- in-a-lifetime natural phenomenon. It is recommended that attendees bring water, binoculars and cameras.

The visitor center at Bear River State Park is open from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. all summer long. This public recreation area is perfect for trail running, biking, fishing, and learning about local landmarks and history.

Upcoming park activities include:

July 18 – S’more-Gasbord Adventures at 6:30 p.m.

Aug. 15 – S’more-Gasbord Adventures at 6:30 p.m.

Aug. 21 – Solar Nature Hike at 10 a.m.
