Barbara Joette (Bluemel) Manzanares, 65, of Denver, Colo., died June 23, 2017 in Denver after a long battle with cancer.

“Joette” was born April 3, 1952, to Mary and Bryce Bluemel of Fort Bridger.

She grew up in Carter, Wyo., graduated from Mountain View High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Wyoming.

She worked as a mental health and substance abuse counselor in Denver until her retirement in 2015.

Joette is survived by her husband of 37 years, Joe, their two children Joseph and Michelle, and Joseph’s children, Makayla and Joseph III.

She is also survived by her brother Joe (Anne) Bluemel and sister Kathy Bluemel of Kemmerer.

Joette enjoyed spending precious time with her grandchildren, friends, and family. She loved reading and camping.

Friends and family celebrated her life in Denver on July 6, 2017.

A funeral mass will be held Saturday, July 22, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Fort Bridger with burial immediately following at the Fort Bridger Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations, may be made to St. Helen’s Council of Catholic Women or St. Helen’s Catholic Church.
