A cow bison keeps an eye on Herald Sports Editor Don Cogger during a photoshoot on Tuesday, May 12, as she guards her newborn calf at Bear River State Park. Park superintendent Tyfani Sager said the baby bison was born around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6. She said the calf has yet to be named as staff haven’t been able to get close enough to tell whether it’s a male or female because of the protective mother. (HERALD PHOTO/Don Cogger)
