Allen David “Pops” Wallace

Allen David “Pops” Wallace, age 61, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 1, at his home in Gonzales, Louisanna.

He was born in Lancaster, Nebraska, on Sept. 5, 1956. After graduating in Columbus, Missisippi, Dave moved to Wagoner, Oklahoma. He became a compressor mechanic and moved his family to Boulder, Colorado, for a short time before settling in Evanston for a few years.

After changing his profession, Dave moved back to Wagoner, then to Gonzales, where he worked, acquired the nickname “Pops” and recently retired as a heat treat technician for Analytic Stress Inc.

Pops loved noodling in the lakes of Oklahoma, fly fishing in the rivers and streams of the Rocky Mountains, and pole fishing in the Tetons and Uintas. Fishing was one his favorite hobbies. He was also a sports enthusiast and enjoyed baseball, softball and golf; but football was his favorite, always cheering for OU and Green Bay. He also would become actively engrossed when watching MMA fights and boxing — it was almost better watching him bob and weave than the actual fight.

Dave was known for his big heart and humorous ways. He enjoyed listening to music. But most of all loved being with his family and friends.

Dave is survived by his wife, Vicki Wallace and former wife, Kelli Butcher; daughters, Christi (Bobby) Stroud and Alexis Wallace; son, Craig (Valencia) Wallace; sister, Debbie Cryderman; brother Jerry (Kelly) Turley; and five grandchildren, Payton and Colt Stroud, Kamrin Griffin, Madison and Mia Wallace and many friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Mary Wallace and Allen Turley and dear friends, Gary and Jana Holmes, Cecil Leeper and Frank Heap.

Per Dave’s request cremation and a private memorial have taken place. Those wanting to express condolences can do so online at http://ascensionfuneral.com guestbook.
