Alice Jean Round

Alice Jean Round, 96, of Bear River, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 3. She was born on Jan. 14, 1924, in York, Nebraska, to Rollie William Campbell and Elsie May Ellis.

Alice Jean worked in a bomb factory during WWII, and her last 33 years of work was in telecommunications with California Water & Tel, which became Verizon, where she retired in 1986. She married her husband, Buford Archibald Round, on Sept. 5, 1953, in Las Vegas.

Alice Jean is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Tami Hughes; grandchildren, Michael Hughes, Jeff (Heather) Hughes, Jared Hughes, Shaylee Hughes, Johnathan Davidson, Lynnea (Greg) Hughes-Ta’ala, Mariah Hughes and Junie Milligan; great-grandchildren, Ethan Hughes, Violet Hughes, Lilyanne Hughes, Camillia Hughes, Kaymen Roan, Kylie Roan and Jaime Hughes; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Buford Round; son, Garry; daughter, Kathryn; her sister, Gladys; and ex-husband, Max Hughes.

A funeral service for Alice Jean took place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9, at Crandall Funeral Home in Evanston.

Burial will take place at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, California.
