Graveside services for Addie Smith, 69 years old of Evanston, former Buffalo resident who passed away Tuesday, July 7, at her home in Evanston, surrounded by her family, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 18, in the Willow Grove Cemetery in Buffalo, with Father Pete Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo on Friday from 1-9 p.m. Donations in Addie’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in care of the Harness Funeral Home at 351 N. Addie Roberta Smith was born on Sept. 19, 1950, in Buffalo, to Robert (Bob) and Addie Madeline (Tingle) Rossnagel. She grew up and went to school in Buffalo and graduated from Johnson County High School with the class of 1968. In high school she was a cheerleader, had the lead role in the senior class play and received academic scholarships. After high school she attended the University of Wyoming for two years.

She was married on Aug. 23, 1969, to Bernard F. “Toy” Smith, in Buffalo. Addie worked for the Johnson County Memorial Hospital in the insurance department while they were in Buffalo. Career changes in 1985 took them to Torrington, where she worked as payroll and personnel supervisor for the community hospital. The next career move in 1989 took them to Yakima, Washington, where she was an administrative assistant at the Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. In 1994 she was an administrative assistant for the Twin Falls County School District until she ended her working career in 2000. They then moved to Evanston, where they retired, in 2015. They continued living in Evanston until her death.

Addie was a devoted mother, grandmother and wife. She was a valued and loved volunteer in her daughter, Laura Rigby’s, kindergarten classroom at Uinta Meadows Elementary School. She was a loyal follower of the sports and other activities of her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Toy Smith of Evanston; one daughter, Laura Rigby and her husband Doug of Evanston; one son, Neil Smith and his wife Clover of Boise, Idaho; four grandchildren, Brock and Abbie Rigby, and Clara and Hadley Smith; three sisters, Roz Harriet and her husband Tom of Mesquite, Nevada; Shirley Green of Casper; and Mary Ann Konis and her husband Bob of Rogue River, Oregon; her stepfather, George Wenzel of Buffalo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Tingle Rossnagel.
