The Wyoming state indoor track championships was held this past weekend in Gillett at Campbell County High School.
Evanston had some standouts at the championships.
In the girls’ 800-meter run, Breila Fuller finished in 7th place with a time of 2:24.57 and Hannah Behunin placed 13th completing the run in 2:28.67.
Behunin and Fuller did well in the 1600-meter run with Behunin finishing in 7th place with a time of 5:33.29 and Fuller placing 11th out of the 45 competitors with a time of 5:37.78.
In the 55-meter hurdles, Leila Martinez was in 4th place with a time of 8.85. Martinez is an exchange student from Spain who has shown her athletic ability all season.
In the 4X200 meter relay, Evanston’s team of Alexia Leland, Hannah Behunin, Leila Martinez and Emillee Benedict finished in sixth place with a time of 1:54.77
Martinez specializes in the girls’ long jump and the triple jump. Martinez won the long jump event with a distance of 18-02.25. and placed first in the triple jump covering 39-11.25. Martinez has also been chosen All State.
In the boys’ 800-meter run Jess Richins and Chase Smith finished 16th and 17th. Richins had a time of 2:08.34 while Smith completed the event in 2:08.40.
Wiley Weston completed the 3200-meter run in 10:47.24 to finish in 15th place.
In team rankings, the girls were in 7th place with a score of 38 and the boys were in 14th place with a score of six.
