The Lady Red Devils traveled to Jackson hoping to improve on their 7-9 record, 2-2 in the 4A West. Jackson has been winless this season.

In the opening quarter Evanston and Jackson had numerous turnovers and Jackson took an early 5-3 lead over Evanston. It didn’t last long, though. Evanston soon took a commanding 13-point lead thanks to three 3-pointers by Emmery Wagstaff and another by Hailey Barker.

Barker also had a field gold and one point from the free throw line. Ajahonna Archuleta scored a field goal. Combined with a point from Aspen Anderson, who started for the first time in her varsity career, the Lady Red Devils put up 20 points to Jackson’s seven points.

Turnovers plagued both teams in the opening minutes of the second quarter. In fact, no one scored until past the halfway mark of the second quarter when Wagstaff sank a 3-pointer. Aspen Anderson added four more points and Natalie Robbins sank a field goal giving Evanston 29 points compared to Jackson’s 12 points after the Lady Broncs scored only three points in the quarter.

Emmery Wagstaff’s hot hand continued into the third quarter where she scored seven points, including her fifth 3-pointer. Aspen Anderson hit two field goals and Archuleta hit one field goal. Cori Deru added two from the free throw line for a total of 15 points in the quarter for the Lady Red Devils.

Jackson Hole found themselves digging deeper into the hole by only scoring five points in the third quarter and allowing Evanston to increase their lead to 44-17.

There was one moment that caused Evanston fans to gasp. With 3:09 remaining in the third quarter, Wagstaff went down hard and stayed down for a while. After a minute of two she got back up, with some assistance and then went to the free throw line and sank two baskets. She left the game briefly but came back in shortly. She had already scored 19 points in the game.

The fourth quarter was, in large part, watching the Lady Red Devils eating up the clock. Still, they were able to score 12 points with Anderson mading six points and Tayler Groll five points. Grace Turner of Jackson Hole made two points and was the only contributor to Jackson’s scoring.

The game ended with Evanston dominating Jackson Hole with a score of 56-19.
