Colby Farrens, of Evanston, has earned the Boy Scouts of America’s highest advancement award, the Eagle Scout Award. Colby will be recognized in a Court of Honor on Sunday, April 21, at 4 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, at 201 Sage St. in Evanston.
Colby is a member of Troop 911 in Evanston and was a member of Troop 4411 for the 2023 BSA National Scout Jamboree. He was previously a member of Troops 83 and 357 in Evanston. He is also a member of the Ammatdiio Lodge for the Order of the Arrow.
To earn the Eagle Scout Award, each candidate must earn 22 merit badges and successfully complete a community, church, or synagogue-related service project. For his Eagle project, Colby planned and coordinated the restoration of the gazebo at Martin Park in Evanston.
The son of Maia and Tom Farrens, Colby, is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and is a senior at Evanston High School.
He is in the EHS Wind Ensemble, Jazz Choir, and participated in the 2024 High School Musical and DECA. He is a member of the EHS cross country, indoor track and soccer teams. He has also been a member of the Evanston Civic Orchestra.
